As we start the new year of 2023, I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who supported me in 2022.
The encouragement has been invaluable and I hope you will continue to accompany me on this journey. I also want to welcome those who will be joining me.
I decided to have a weekly appointment for this blog, probably Sundays, to challenge myself to share my life as a composer. As I said I do it mostly for myself trying to inspire people to keep working.
I want to put the frustrations behind my back being aware that so far no one reads this blog but who knows, maybe someone will relate to my experiences and a discussion could be brought on the table.
For sure some weeks will not be particularly exciting, but sharing my experience might encourage people to see things from a different point of you. I often find online that people are searching for answers to their problems that, in my opinion, can be solved simply paying attention others situations, not with some magical formula for success.
The end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 were filled with stories of people being "exposed" as gurus and this has taught me to pave my own path. Of course I keep an eye on the outside world, living in a bubble it's not healthy, but, again, trust our gut: especially with the people you decide to follow for inspiration.
Now that the first week of 2023 is here, it's time to set priorities.
Without following any particular order, first on the list is to finish editing a couple of books I have almost ready and release them on Amazon.
This will give me the time to focus completely on mixing and mastering the 10 new pieces I have been working on and keep writing new music.
I'm very excited about these new compositions and I'll introduce them to you very soon, especially the inspiration that made me write them.
If you are interested I might make one post for each piece, let me know in the comment....
And most important thing I want to make sure that I keep a good balance in life. Taking time off to clear the mind: come back fresh and recharged is essential.
I will be experimenting with the tech world, mostly trying to upload blog posts, like this one, as videos on YouTube to see if it helps reach new and the right audience.
I will also stay present on Instagram and Twitter, but without becoming obsessed: after all I want to write music and social media is a full time job that I don't aim to pursue.
The humble goal for this 2023 is to provide an opportunity for others to check in with themselves and where they are in their own path.
Full disclosure: I refuse to play the game and be burnt if I don't follow the trend of the moment or if I don't upload like a crazy: I'm too old for this, and I'm too old school. This doesn't mean that I don't use technology, but I find it hard to embrace the "sheep crowd" mentality and do whatever everybody else is doing just because they are doing it.
Meanwhile life goes on in its never-ending cycle of tasks: run errands, do chores, work and go to bed, only to wake up and do it all over again. We often find ourselves wishing that we could do what we love all day and have the rest taken care of without us having to worry about it. Unfortunately that belongs to fantasy land.
For sure we must take care of our responsibilities, whether we like it or not. We must make sure that our bills are paid, that our homes are clean, and that our families are taken care of.
At the end of the day, it is important to remember that life is a balance between responsibilities and passions.
That's all for today!
See you next week!
