Reducing my presence on Social Media. Tired to be at algorithm mercy!

Making a big decision often stems from the feeling of being trapped or at the mercy of external forces. Recently, I reached a point where I became increasingly frustrated with social media, specifically the way algorithms dictate our interactions and visibility. All the bosses saying that " post when you have something to say " but truth is that if you don't post every day or multiple times a day you become invisible in no time!

Tired of algorithm dictating social media experience

Gone are the days when social media felt like a vibrant community where friends, artists and fans could come together meaningfully. Over time, what should have been a space for authentic connection transitioned into a numbers game. Algorithms seem to prioritize content that garners attention rather than content that fosters genuine conversations. I understand the appeal to see bikinis with more or less skin exposed very appealing but then to see people complaining about objectification of bodies seem very hypocritical. But I get it: until it makes likes and money it's all allowed! Plus honestly with AI nowadays you don't know even more what is real or not!

I've watched as friends and fellow artists struggled against algorithm changes that made it increasingly difficult for their heartfelt posts to reach the people who truly cared. It seems like the moment you get a handle on how to engage your audience, the rules change, prompting you to scramble yet again.

As I reflected on these experiences, it became clear that social media had transformed into a rather impersonal space. The connections seem less genuine, often revolving around exchanges of follows rather than authentic relationships.

The trend of longing for those connections has become all too common, with platforms forcing us to rely on paid promotions or, worse, blind hope that the algorithm will favor us one day. This cycle became exhausting, and it depleted my creative spirit.

Thus, I made a decision: I would slowly step back from social media and invest my time and energy into connecting with my real fans, those who resonate with my music and, hopefully, my writing as well.

Real Connections Over Follower Counts

What I realized was simple: i was and am just tired to be at the mercy of algorithm on social media and I wanted to build a community, not just a following. I crave interactions that were genuine and heartfelt. I don’t want to engage with individuals who saw my posts as a transaction, where a “like” was exchanged for a “follow.” It feels artificial, unfulfilling, and far from the essence of what creativity is meant to be.

So I'm taking a step back. Rather than chasing follower counts, I start thinking about connecting with the individuals who sincerely appreciate what I have to offer: my music, my thoughts, my stories. This mean creating a space where I can foster real relationships without the burden of expectation.

The Commitment to Authentic Engagement

In this journey, I made a conscious choice not to engage in the common "lead magnet" strategy that has become prevalent in many circles today. I see it all around, people offering free content in exchange for email addresses or followers. While there’s nothing wrong with building a subscriber list, I feel that real fans don’t need to be bribed.

Instead of offering something free as bait, I chose to offer my commitment. A commitment to be present, to share my thoughts openly, and to have real conversations with those who are genuinely interested in what I create and to listen to my fans. Building a supportive community should feel natural, beautiful, and collaborative, devoid of the need for gimmicks.

Creating Meaningful Interactions

What does it look like to invest in relationships with fans genuinely?

It starts with sharing who I am beyond the music. I want to create a space for open dialogue where real conversations flourish. This entails sharing more of my thoughts, feelings, and even the processes that go into my art.

For instance, when I finish a song, I want to share the story behind it, what inspired me, and the feelings that emerged during its creation. I want those who connect with my music to feel involved in the journey rather than just passive listeners.

If you resonate with my music, writing, or message, I invite you to be part of this exciting journey. Real connections are often developed through understanding and shared experiences. I want to hear your thoughts, your stories, and the ways my work affects you.

So, I created a form for those interested in supporting each other authentically, allowing us to grow together without the barriers created by social media algorithms. By expressing your interest, you can help cultivate a community that thrives on genuine connection, where everyone feels valued and appreciated.

One of the most empowering aspects of this transition is knowing that it’s a choice I made for my mental health and wellbeing. By focusing on authentic engagement, I can pour my energy into creating rather than worrying about whether my latest post will be seen by my audience or reach more people outside my circle.

I hope my message will resonate with someone out there and I'll keep sharing my thoughts on a regular basis!

I invite you to fill out the form and embark on this journey together. Let's support each other and nurture the kind of connections that remind us of why we fell in love with art and creativity in the first place.

At the beginning it might be a lonely walk but I hope I''ll be joined by you!

Thank you for joining me on this transformative adventure. Together, let’s build something beautiful.

I liked reading this however I need to reduce my presence altogether so I think I'm going to disappear off the grid for a long time along with my flavor of the week wife. We really need to be away from society completely as we believe we are unfit and incapable of living in society. We really have too much of a cave man mentality together that affects every single inch of our life. I guess I could just leave her cuz Im not attracted to a retired prostitute that I met for a date once and because she gave me the sloppiest satisfaction I decided to keep her. But make no mistake she lives in the barn with th…

Well said.

I hope this helps you, by you I mean YOU.

You are all that matters. Your well being means piece of mind for you. Your health, your family have to go first! You mentioned, more artistic expression as a result, take time for yourself. I applaud that wholeheartedly.
